Where It All Began?
In 2018, we witnessed something that changed our perspective on Himalayan mad honey. While honey hunters were risking their lives on steep Himalayan cliffs to harvest one of nature's rarest products, many were struggling to receive fair value for their hard work. The market was largely controlled by middlemen, and the stories, traditions, and people behind each harvest were often overlooked.
The more time we spent with these communities, the more we realized that this tradition deserved greater recognition and support. We saw an opportunity to create a direct connection between local honey hunters and customers looking for authentic mad honey.
That vision led to the creation of Best Mad Honey. Our goal was never simply to sell honey, but to help preserve a centuries-old tradition, support the communities behind it, and share authentic Himalayan mad honey with people around the world.
The Problem We Set Out to Solve
As we learned more about the mad honey industry, we noticed a growing disconnect between the people harvesting the honey and the people purchasing it.
Fake Mad Honey in the Market
We discovered that many customers were struggling to find authentic mad honey and understand the differences between seasonal harvests. To address this, we focused on responsible sourcing, careful packaging, and lab testing to help ensure a consistent and reliable product.
Honey Hunters Were Not Getting Recognition
The world was enjoying mad honey, but very few people knew about the individuals behind it. Honey hunters spend days preparing for the harvest and risk their safety on towering cliffs to collect this rare product. We felt their story deserved to be heard and their role in preserving this unique Himalayan tradition deserved greater appreciation.

Another challenge we noticed was the difficulty of delivering authentic mad honey from remote Himalayan regions to customers around the world. We worked to build a reliable process for sourcing, packaging, and international shipping, making it easier for customers to access genuine Himalayan mad honey directly from Nepal.
